The Town of Gypsum, Colorado, Community Development Department and the Eagle County, Colorado, Engineering Department, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the Town's and County's intent to revise the flood hazard information along Gypsum Creek from the confluence with the Eagle River to approximately 90 feet downstream of Cottonwood Pass Road.

As a result of this revision, from Vicksburg Lane downstream within the Town of Gypsum:

1. The floodway will widen and narrow.

2. The 1-percent-annual-chance water-surface elevations shall increase and decrease.

3. The 1-percent-annual-chance (100-year) floodplain will widen and narrow.

Also resulting from this revision, from Vicksburg Lane upstream to Cottonwood Pass Road, within the Town of Gypsum and in Eagle County:

1. The floodway will be established.

2. The 1-percent-annual-chance water-surface elevations shall be established.

3. The 1-percent-annual-chance (100-year) floodplain will widen and narrow.

As a result of this map revision, most of the properties along Gypsum Creek currently located in the Special Hazard Flood Area (SHFA) will be partially or wholly removed from the SFHA and, in most cases, the Federal mandatory flood insurance requirement would not apply, or premiums could be reduced.

Maps and detailed analysis of the revision can be reviewed at the Town of Gypsum Community Development Department at 50 Lundgren Boulevard. Interested persons may call Jim Hancock, 970-524-1728, at the Town of Gypsum or Nicole Mosby, 970-328-3564, at Eagle County for additional information.
